Covering an area of about 1,010,000 square kilometers, Egypt borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the northeast, the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south and Libya to the west. Egypt is one of the most populous countries in Africa and the Middle East. The great majority of its estimated 75.4 million live near the banks of the Nile River, in an area of about 40,000 square kilometers, where the only arable agricultural land is found. The large areas of the Sahara Desert are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt's residents live in urban areas, with the majority spread across the densely-populated centres of greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta. Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Giza pyramid complex and its Great Sphinx. The culture and people are usually so completely different from what they know that they often find themselves in situations to which they have no idea how to react. Morocco is in many ways a country apart. It nestles on the northwestern tip of Africa, separated from the rest of the continent by the towering Atlas Mountains and by the Sahara itself. Morocco brims over with contrast, color and mystery and all you can do is simply catching your breath in wonder. It has a timeless quality that no longer exists in the modern world, a sense that the past with all its glory and savagery still lives on, threading in and out of the present, informing with its every word and gesture. When you come to Spain you should eat Paella while enjoying a glass of good wine. Eating is very important for the Spaniard. It is part of the culture. There are two hot meals a day, one during the Siesta and one in the evening around nine o´clock. The fact that Spaniards set high on good food becomes obvious from the choice of fresh products available. In the morning the fishermen come with loads of fresh fish which are sold directly at the auction. It is very interesting to experience such an auction. Also the supermarkets have a large supply of fresh products. The best known Spanish dishes are gazpacho, paella, tortilla and tapas.
